Monica - Illustrated Print
Monica rocks her flowing floral dress and is ready to bring a pop of color to your walls! Her vitiligo brings a unique beauty to the print.
I'm often asked if this is a portrait of Winnie Harlow. It is not a portrait of her specifically, but was inspired by people like her with vitiligo. I had seen another person with the condition and started researching it. I did come across many gorgeous images of her, and decided to use a curvy model in my depiction. This was the first print I decided to use a person with a skin condition or disability.
In picking art for my office, I chose art with diverse images of women to inspire me. It was harder than I expected to find prints unless I was very specific in my search. This prompted me to create my own line of prints to help make it easier for people to find prints with diverse people, and people who may look a little like them.
Size: 8” x 10” - easy-peasy to find a frame, versatile for most spaces, may even fit in a scrapbook when you don't want it on the wall anymore.
Orientation: Portrait - That's tall one, not the wide one
Paper Content: 100% Cotton Rag, acid free, lignin free (prevents discoloration and fading), and no optical brighteners - Tree-free AND the cotton typically comes from the textile industry.
Thickness/Weight: 285 gsm or 290 gsm - What does that mean? The paper is thick and durable, and would probably jam your home printer. I either print at home or use a giclee printing company - hence the slight difference.
Ink: Pigment-based ink - holds up better in sunny spots and stays colorful longer!
Prints are eco-packaged using:
Flap-n-seal bag, the "plastic thing", is made from compostable plant material (not plastic).
Rigid direct mailer envelopes made from 90% post-consumer recycled materials, and they are certified recyclable and naturally biodegradable. Boom.
Zero-waste shipping labels - both the label AND backing (the thing you peel a fresh sticker off of) are recyclable. We don't always think about the label part when we recycle!
Prints are shipped via USPS, unless otherwise discussed. Shipping generally takes up to 7 business days, but can take longer - especially in COVID times. When you buy a print you help a small business AND the US Postal Service! BONUS!
